Sentou Ryu Aiki Heiho

Sentou Ryu Aiki Heiho is a modern expression of aikijujutsu. Our techniques are drawn from Yoshinkan aikido, O' Sensei's pre-1938 Budo catalog, Daito Ryu aiki budo, Nihon taihojutsu and Sentou Ryu aikijujutsu.

Sentou Ryu involves three main aspects: blending not clashing, leading the assailant, use of internal strength.

Like other forms of jujutsu, it emphasizes throwing techniques and joint manipulations to effectively control, subdue or injure an attacker.

Of particular importance is the timing of the technique to effectively blend or neutralize the incoming attacks effectiveness and use the force of the attackers movement against them. The aiki practitioner trains to "control the line of attack".

The aiki practitioner is able to lead the attack, and thus the attacker into precarious positions. Movements may be large and obvious or small and subtle. In the same manner, through deceptive movements, the aiki practitioner may negate a defense response from the assailant or create a response that puts the attacker in further peril.

Aikijujutsu is characterized by ample use of atemi, or strikes to vital areas, in order to set up joint locking or throwing tactics.

Some of the arts striking methods employ the swinging of outstretched arms to create power and to hit with fists at deceptive angles to destroy bones, ligaments and cause nerve damage.

Techniques are practiced standing, seated and attacker standing while defender is seated. We employ modern weapons disarms and explore modern settings such as car seats.
